Location: NASBA CPE Expo | San Antonio, TX

Today, more than ever before, real estate is going “green”.  Owners expect their advisors and staff, especially their tax consultants, to be familiar with cost saving strategies available for making environmentally friendly improvements.  In order to stay ahead in this “greening” marketplace, tax professionals must be prepared to proactively address the issues by providing effective solutions.

This presentation will provide a thorough understanding of the special first year tax deduction, of up to $1.80 per square foot, available under IRC Section 179D for qualified energy efficient building improvements.  Attendees will learn what improvements are eligible, how they qualify, and what is needed to claim this valuable deduction. The instructor will also discuss how this incentive can benefit architects and engineers designing municipal projects.  Next, the instructor will introduce the Asset Retirement Study and explain how this focused analysis can be used to enhance taxpayer benefits, supporting additional write-offs with planned renovation projects.

The presentation will conclude by demonstrating, with cases studies, how these solutions can be combined to help maximize taxpayer benefit.
